Aldo Vásquez was sworn in on 29 October as Peru’s latest justice minister. He succeeds Gustavo Adrianzén who was forced out of office last week in the row over dismissing the prosecutor Julia Príncipe (see 26 October PSG article). He is the seventh person to hold this office in less than four and a half years. Vásquez has been the dean of social sciences at the Jesuit Universidad Ruiz Montoya, but has also worked previously at the Justice Ministry as director of legal consultants.
