We have drawn attention to the increasingly conflictive situation brewing in the province of Espinar where Glencore owns the key Tintaya mining complex as well as its extension at Antapaccay. Local communities have taken issue with Glencore over the latter’s refusal to make a monetary payment to community members in line with the Framework Agreement between the company and communities in a situation of emergency.

The Plataforma Europa Perú (PEP) has published a statement of concern on the situation of Human Rights Defenders in Espinar. The statement can be read here in english and spanish.

The PSG is one of the members of the PEP.
