On 9 June, Manuel Rios Huamaní, aged 22, and Junior Maquera Cahuana, aged 26, appeared in court in Arequipa, accused of causing disturbances, violence, resisting the authorities and causing damage to public property. The public prosecutor in the case has asked for them to be jailed for no less than 14 years. For its part, the Interior Ministry has demanded that they pay 100,000 new soles in damages. The two claim that they are innocent of the charges.
