Toledo Gets Angry at Accusation of Corruption
30 November 2004
President Alejandro was accused of corruption on a live TV news programme. A few minutes later, live on air, the show took a call from Toledo himself, who launched a furious verbal attack on the presenter. He then called the host a coward before hanging up.
The phone call followed the broadcasting of two videos offering support to allegations made against Toledo of forging signatures in order to enter the 2000 elections.
Magistrates are investigating the allegation of forged signatures, a scandal that harks back to the circumstances of Mr Fujimori's re-election in 2000 - with the help of a million invented signatures.
