The mountain scenery of Apurímac may be rather different to that of Davos, but Prime Minister Fernando Zavala has opted for the latter.

The mayor of Antabamba, Oscar Paniura was in Lima last week, demanding that Zavala and Transport Minister Martín Vizcarra honour pledges given to attend the dialogue round table scheduled for 17 January. He threatened to call a 48-hour strike if they don’t turn up.

Zavala, for one, will not be there. He is attending the annual Davos businessfest and thereafter has meetings with the OECD in Paris.
