On July 27, just before the end of the last day of the Humala administration, the long-awaited ruling over the case of forced sterilisations was announced. The public prosecutor announced that the case would be shelved (archivado). Even though the ruling was given at the end of the day, possibly in the hope that the news would be buried by the razzmatazz surrounding the start of the new administration, it was certainly picked up by the news media and victims’ organisations. The three congresswomen of Frente Amplio, Marisa Glave, Indira Huilca and Tania Pairona, protested on 28 July in Congress showing the symbol used by campaigners #Somos2074
